Ride With Confidence. Protect What Fuels Your Freedom.

There's nothing quite like the open road. Whether you're cruising through Northern Colorado, exploring mountain passes, or enjoying a weekend ride, the right motorcycle insurance helps protect your bike, your investment, and your peace of mind.

At Thompson Insurance Agency, we understand that your motorcycle is more than transportation. It's freedom, adventure, and a passion worth protecting. We're a family-owned Fort Collins agency serving riders across Loveland, Windsor, and Northern Colorado since 1969, licensed in Colorado and Wyoming.

What's covered

What your motorcycle policy covers.

Every Thompson motorcycle policy is built from these core coverages.

01

Liability Protection

Provides financial protection if you're responsible for injuries or property damage to others.

02

Collision Coverage

Helps repair or replace your motorcycle after a covered accident, regardless of fault.

03

Comprehensive Coverage

Protects your bike from theft, fire, vandalism, hail, storm damage, and other unexpected events.

04

Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist Coverage

Provides protection when another driver causes an accident but doesn't carry enough insurance to cover the damages.

05

Medical Payments Coverage

Helps cover medical expenses for you and your passengers following a covered accident.

06

Custom Parts & Accessories Coverage

Protects the upgrades that make your bike uniquely yours, including custom equipment, chrome, aftermarket parts, riding gear, and accessories.

Who this is for

Built for NoCo riders.

Motorcycle insurance pays off most reliably for three specific groups in Colorado. The policies are nearly identical but the conversation looks a little different for each.

01 · Weekend Riders

Weekend and recreational riders.

Canyon rides up the Poudre or weekend trips into the mountains mean less time on the bike but real exposure every time you ride. We make sure occasional riders aren't overpaying for year-round coverage that doesn't match how often they're actually out.

02 · Daily Commuters

Daily commuters.

Riding to work in Fort Collins traffic every day means more miles, more intersections, and more exposure to Colorado's uninsured drivers. We make sure daily riders carry liability and uninsured motorist limits that ensure you're covered beyond just the state minimum.

03 · Custom & Sport Bikes

Custom and sport bike owners.

A customized cruiser or a sport bike with performance upgrades often has money wrapped up in parts a standard policy won't touch. Custom parts and accessories coverage protects that investment, and we make sure the bike's value and your aftermarket gear are both reflected in the policy.

Motorcycle FAQ

Questions we get a lot.

If your question isn't here, call us. We'd rather answer it on the phone than read about it in a help center.

Yes. Colorado requires the same liability minimums for motorcycles as it does for cars: 25/50/15: $25,000 in bodily injury liability per person, $50,000 per accident, and $15,000 in property damage liability per accident. That covers injuries and damage you cause to others; it does not cover your own bike or your own injuries unless you add collision, comprehensive, or medical coverage.
Generally, no. Standard collision and comprehensive coverage protects your bike as it came from the manufacturer, not custom paint, aftermarket exhaust, upgraded seats, or other modifications. If you've customized your ride, custom parts and accessories coverage is the layer that protects that investment. Let us know what you've added when we quote so the limit actually matches it.
Yes. Most riders in Colorado keep coverage active year-round even if they only ride seasonally, since a lapse in coverage can affect rates later and the bike still needs to be insured if it's titled and registered. Some carriers offer reduced "lay-up" coverage for the off-season that keeps comprehensive protection in place (theft, fire, weather) while lowering the cost of the liability and collision portions you're not using. Ask us about this when you quote. It's often the better option for seasonal riders.
